Spectra Yoga’s 200 hour #TeacherTraining program is different. We want to be different. We designed it to be different. We crafted this program for both inspired students of yoga as well as aspiring #YogaTeachers to get the best, well rounded training a 200 hour program could offer. We have brought together 3 highly experienced lead teacher trainers who come from 3 different backgrounds in the world of yoga to lead you on this journey. Melissa Christensen (E-RYT 500), Colleen Hieber (E-RYT 500, RPYT) and Aileen Pham (E-RYT 500, RPYT), are all registered with Yoga Alliance at the highest 500 hour training level. Each has years of teaching, thousands of hours on the mat, as well as continued training in various specialties including #YinYoga, #PrenatalYoga, and #KidsYoga. We have all come together to offer YOU a full-spectrum training. All of this, offered to you for $250 less than most trainings.

We’re different because our focus is on a full spectrum immersion into the various aspects of #yoga including but not limited to #asana (poses), #meditation, #pranayama (breath work), subtle/energy body awareness, anatomy, therapeutics, history and philosophy, #bhakti, ethics, teaching skills and #sadhana (personal practice). This kind of training is unique in that it is varied, not only in its approach to these topics, but it’s commitment to offer in-depth understanding into the various approaches represented by the background of the trainers. You’ll walk away not only knowing how to teach yoga asana, skillfully and effectively, but come to understand how the full spectrum of yoga practices can change your life and the lives of your students.

This training is an opportunity to discover exactly what it is that has drawn you to yoga. Through this detailed-oriented and intimate approach to #TeacherTraining, you will find a nurturing environment where your spirit will be uplifted and your passions ignited. You will be given the tools to discover your own unique path through the practices of yoga, that will facilitate a deeper understanding of yourself, as a person and as a #YogaTeacher. All that is required is a deep desire and commitment to understand yoga, and an open mind.

"Teacher training was not on my list of ‘things to do’ but apparently, it was part of my destiny. I had no interest in yoga but it kept calling to me, through my husband. He’d say, 'I really think you should do yoga. It’s your thing.' I looked at him like he was an alien and would scrunch my nose in a 'No way' kind of way. Then, I got sick and a diagnosis. The doctor said, 'You can either do two things: walking or yoga.” I chose walking. Still resisting yoga. Fast forward 15 years to 2014: I got invited to a class and fell in love. I was ready to be on the mat and face what it brought to me that I had been resisting all those years. So, when my husband brought home the Spectra Yoga Teacher Training information, I was listening in a new way. As someone who writes books and counsels people, I was intrigued by how yoga heals the brain. I signed up and my life will never be the same. I learned rich philosophy, and the work of the poses (both which worked on me while I was working on them) and I fell in love with yoga on a deeper level. It introduced me to parts of me that I knew were there but I hadn’t fully met. It re-introduced me to my flexibility and strength. It revealed what I knew and didn’t know about myself. It was the most beautiful discovery and gift I gave to myself. But that wasn’t the only gift: I found the treasure of my classmates — beautiful human beings on their own journey. Everything you experience in community becomes something added to your life. I not only had the riches of my revelations, I had the riches of theirs. I felt so full each week — tired, yes, but full and satisfied like this was something so worthy of my time. And here’s the thing: I had heard about other teacher trainings in other places. They never resonated for me. This one at Spectra resonated and after I got started, I knew why: Aileen, Melissa and Colleen were the perfect teachers to walk me through. They are so richly experienced in their yoga but more than that, they live their own practice, they have credibility with themselves as being trustworthy and deep and so much fun — so I was able to trust them in taking me into this education of yoga and myself. I am forever bonded to them, my classmates and this practice. Whether someone ever desires to teach the asanas of yoga or not, this Teacher Training at Spectra is so valuable because it teaches you about you — and about life and it will strengthen and deepen your connection to both"

"Spectra School of Yoga 200 hour teacher training has impacted my life in so many ways. As a stay at home mother of small children I was yearning for something of my own. This was it! Initially I was worried about the time commitment away from my children as well as the homework. I was surprised how easily the class schedule fit our busy life and I was so excited to take in all of the knowledge, I looked forward to the homework! The in depth knowledge shared by Melissa, Aileen and Colleen was insightful, challenging and inspirational. The precision of the Asana taught gave me an incredible understanding of their therapeutic purpose in my life. The changes I saw physically in my body were awesome too! The introduction of meditation, pranayama, anatomy, history and philosophy were all very thorough. The training sparked a new passion in my life that will be present with me forever. I will forever be grateful to Melissa, Aileen and Colleen for creating this training and giving us all an opportunity to dive deeper into the incredible world of yoga!"

"I just finished taking my 200 hour teacher training at Spectra Yoga and I would recommend it to everyone to take, whether you plan to teach or not! I learned so much and my practice is so much stronger now that I have completed the training. Initially I came into the training with very little knowledge on the depth of YOGA, not just the asana. There is so much more to this wonderful thing called yoga and I would take the training over and over. Ailleen, Colleen, and Melissa are a great team, with specialties in different areas but a common goal. I came out transformed physically and spiritually. They encourage you to discover and explore everything from the philosophy and asana to gain a better understanding personally rather than them just giving you the answer. Not to mention the amazing people I met and will continue to be friends with beyond our training. I could go on but you have to see for yourself. If you are considering it just do it, you won't regret it! Thank you Spectra for the amazing training. Can't wait to take the 500HR! Namaste!"
